HOW YOU CAN HELP Donor Form Sponsor Form The Texas Bighorn Society is an all volunteer organization, and as such we are dependant upon our membership to accomplish our goal of returning desert bighorn sheep to all their historic range in Texas. We have been very succesful at that for over a quarter of a century, with the population approaching numbers not seen in the state since the late 1800's. But there is much work still to do and we need your help to make it happen. Our focus in achieving our stated goals is of necessity on habitat. Permanently protecting critical habitat, restoring and enhancing damaged habitat, and putting in place the safeguards necessary to ensure that future generations can also enjoy the bighorns and other wildlife of this magnificent country is what drives our efforts. We work closely with Texas Parks and Wildlife, private landowners, and all stakeholders in the restoration effort, using equal measures of science and sweat equity to make things happen. Once each year we gather in bighorn country for hands on conservation work at our annual Work Project. Typically this takes the form of construction of water guzzlers to ensure that the water needs of our expanding herds are met, but we have also built brood and soft-release pens, helped with transplants, and tackled infrastructure and habitat enhancement requirements in many forms. This gratifying work is the glue that binds our group together, and provides an opportunity to be a crucial part of the restoration effort that is not possible in many places today. As with all conservation work, it takes money to make things happen. TBS has invested nearly two million dollars and thousands of hours of volunteer labor in returning sheep to our state. Once each year we gather at locations throughout the state for our Roundup fundraiser. This convention is critical to providing the funding necessary to carry on our work, but it is also a celebration with old and new friends of all that we have done, and will do, that is not to be missed. We need your time, effort, and money to continue this great story. Please consider donating to or sponsoring items for our Roundup, volunteering your time throughout the year doing the business of TBS, and most importantly just getting involved. There is much to do, and never enough hands to cover all the possibilites. The personal satisfaction and lifelong friends you make along the way will just be a bonus.
