Texas Top 10 Rams

Just in case you have any doubts about the quality of rams being taken in Texas we would like to introduce you to the “Top Ten” Texas bighorns as listed in the Boone and Crockett Club records as of February, 2009. There are also some other rams taken that might fall into this category that have not been entered into the record books. (The dates listed reflect the date they were entered into the record books and in some cases may not be the same year they were harvested.)

At #1 – Stephanie Altimus and her magnificent ram taken in January, 2007 in Culberson County, Texas Boone and Crockett Score 184

At #2 – Terry Fricks Brewster County monster taken in 2005 on the Elephant Mountain WMA, pictured here with his very capable guide and TP&W biologist Justin Foster.

At #3 was a “Pick-Up” from a ram that apparently died of natural causes at Elephant Mountain in 2002. This photo was taken shortly before his demise by the TBS web camera.

At #4 – Glenn Thurman took yet another Elephant Mountain monarch in 2004 hunting on the first ever TBS special permit.

At #5 – Continuing the trend Walter Ford, Jr. harvested another Elephant Mountain whopper in 2005, also hunted on a TBS special permit.

At #8 – Former TBS President Daniel Boone hunted his first Texas bighorn in 1997 in Culberson County.

At #10 – Hard hunting, clean living, and maybe just a little luck earned Daniel Boone his second Texas ram in Brewster County in 2008
