Date: March 15th and 16th, 2024

Overview:
Join the Texas Bighorn Society for our annual Work Project, an opportunity for hands-on conservation work benefiting desert bighorn sheep in Texas. This year, we’ll be constructing two mountain-top water guzzlers at Franklin Mountain State Park in El Paso.

Participant Requirements:
Please note that participation in the Work Project is limited to TBS members only.

Schedule:
The project will commence on Friday morning. Participants are requested to meet at the Holiday Inn Express & Suites El Paso North at daylight to collect a sack lunch and receive further instructions. If you have any inquiries, feel free to reach out via text at 321-525-6724. The staging area will be inside Franklin Mountain State Park.

What to Bring:
Bring along plumbing tools, digging tools, drill batteries, and any additional equipment you think might be useful for the project.

Accommodations:
For accommodations, we recommend the Holiday Inn Express & Suites El Paso North, offering a discounted rate for TBS participants. Please make reservations using the provided code TEXAS BIGHORN MEETING by February 28, 2024, to avail of the discount.

Attire:
Given the remote desert location, participants should be in good physical condition and comfortable hiking in rugged terrain. Prepare for various weather conditions by wearing appropriate clothing and sturdy hiking boots.

Meals:
Lunch will be provided on both Friday and Saturday mornings at the Holiday Inn Express El Paso North. Dinner will be served at our annual membership meeting on Friday night at the City of El Paso Arlington Park Shelter. Volunteers are welcome to assist with meal preparations; please contact us for more details.
